The idea
of creating the Association L’AMAP was born from a series of experiments
and actions developped at Paris 8-Saint-Denis University where students,
teachers and members of the administration met, all of them speaking
different languages and coming from different social classes and different
countries.
The need to find a place to meet
and develop activities led to the creation of a Intercultural Center
(CIVD), where all sorts of projects have been carried out for more
than 20 years creating long-lived links between the participants,
groups and cultures that had ignored themselves or did understood
one another until then.
Beside the Intercultural Center,
the association L’AMAP aims to spread its action in different countries :
former students of Paris 8 together with other concerned people hope to develop a new intercultual dynamics
leading to a better inderstanding and real solidarity between social
groups and peoples who are divided by social, cultural, geographic
or ideological obstacles.
These actions will remain deliberately
heterogeneous and non-hierarchical. The question is not to put up
such or such an activity submitted to some sort of authority, nor
to act as ethnologists or curators of museums of arts and traditional
cultures. The association aims at forwarding the occurrence of events,
initiatives, relationships allowing for better training educational
and knowledge facilities, providing an intense feeling
of discovery rather than acknowledgment of a difference when
two or more cultures meet together.
